Dear Department of African American Studies Class of 2020,

We hope that you and your loved ones are doing as well as can be given all that’s happening in our country. We would like to emphasize that we are committed to offering the Class of 2020 a chance to participate in a departmental ceremony once it is safe to gather in-person.

On Friday, June 12th, we will be sharing a celebratory video on our department Youtube channel, department webpage, and social media platforms. The video will include congratulatory messages from faculty, students, alumni, and guests. The celebration is scheduled to go live on Friday, June 12th at 12:00pm, and will be accessible through all of our department platforms. Please join us then to celebrate our graduates!

Please note that the College of Letters & Sciences will also be hosting a live virtual event on Friday, June 12th. You can find the details here.

The in-person departmental ceremony is currently still to be determined. We will be working diligently to offer the Class of 2020 an in-person ceremony when possible.

Congratulations, Class of 2020. We look forward to seeing you guys soon.
